“In an era of global rupture, the greatest risk is not the complexity of the world, but the obsolescence of our own intelligence.”

THE CONDITION

You have outgrown
your mental models.

The tools that made you effective — analytical rigour, strategic clarity, the ability to diagnose and fix — are producing diminishing returns. Not because they are wrong. Because the situations you face have become too complex for any single frame.

01

THE FIXER'S TRAP

Your interventions solve the presenting problem and create three others. The system learns to route around your solutions.

03

THE INFORMATION BLINSPOT

You only receive the feedback your current categories allow. What you cannot name, you cannot see. What you cannot see, you cannot respond to.

02

THE ILLUSION OF DETACHMENT

You are trained to analyse from outside. But you are always inside the system you are studying. Your presence changes it. You are changed by it.

04

THE URGENCY LOOP

Crisis demands immediate response. Immediate response leaves no space for systemic thinking. The loop continues. The crises multiply.

THE APPROACH

Three disciplines.
One integrated practice.

We do not teach complexity theory. We use it to restructure how you see — and how you act. The programme integrates three modes of knowing that are usually kept apart.

SCIENCE

The Rigour of the Engineer

Master the mathematics of networks, feedback loops, and non-linear dynamics. Map the underlying patterns of flow to identify where a system is truly ready to shift. This is not a metaphor — it is a technical capability.

PSYCHE

The Depth of the Analyst

The internal state of the observer is the primary variable in any systemic intervention. We explore the unconscious forces, attachment patterns, and unfinished gestalts that shape what you see — and what you cannot see.

PHILOSPHY

The Surrender of the Philosopher

A transition from intellectual description to visceral engagement. Develop the capacity to inhabit complexity rather than manage it — to act from within the rupture rather than at arm's length from it.

THE STRUCTURE

Seven months.
One arc of Transformation

We do not teach complexity theory. We use it to restructure how you see — and how you act. The programme integrates three modes of knowing that are usually kept apart.
  • Weekly 90-minute masterclasses on system dynamics, emergence, and complexity science. Fortnightly philosophical seminars. Fortnightly one-on-one transpersonal coaching to map your systemic shadow.

1 - The observer and the Systems
    2- How Systems Change
    3- Agency and Leverage
    4- Collapse and Revelation
    5- The Conscious Participant

  • A 5-day residential retreat in Portugal. Group psychotherapy, art therapy, fire ceremony, silence, and a full day of Holotropic Breathwork — a professionally certified method developed by Stanislav Grof — that integrates months of intellectual work into lived, somatic knowledge. Theory becomes experience.

  • Bi-weekly group sessions to anchor your new cognitive architecture into professional reality. The programme closes when each participant presents one concrete, irreversible change they are making in the world.

“You cannot understand a system by stopping it. To understand it, you must enter it.” - Gregory Bateson

Meet the Team

  • Pedro Portela

    CO-FOUNDER & LEAD FACULTY
Pedro brings rare credibility at the intersection of technical rigour and field complexity. Trained as an aerospace engineer, he spent seven years in peacebuilding and conflict transformation — including work in South Sudan — before returning to systems science as the framework that bridges both worlds.

    - Steward, Humanity United governance community of practice
    - Transpersonal Coach , Alef Trust
    - Guest Faculty, ISCTE
    - Specialist in network analysis, complexity science, and organisational governance
    - Writer on resilience and crisis response, Observador

  • Luisa Costa

    CO-FOUNDER & ART THERAPIST
Luisa holds the programme's depth work. As a practising art therapist she designs the psyche curriculum and leads the experiential dimensions of the retreat — the art therapy sessions, the somatic integration work, and the container in which the more challenging transformational processes unfold safely.

    - Practising art therapist.
    - Retreat design and facilitation of depth group processes
    - Co-designer of the programme's ontological curriculum
